Hands-on training in inflammatory and autoimmune disease, with a focus on biologic therapy.

Rheumatology & Biologic Therapies training

Training mode

You join the rheumatology department as a fellow under an assigned senior consultant, one-to-one, for the full placement.

  • In clinic: you assess inflammatory arthritis and connective tissue disease patients alongside your consultant.
  • Procedures: you take part in joint aspiration and injection. Your role grows from assisting to performing, as your consultant judges you ready.
  • Infusion day-care: you learn biologic therapy selection, administration and monitoring.
  • Academic: you take part in the department's case discussions.

Your actual level of involvement (observing, assisting, or performing steps under supervision) is decided by your supervising consultant, based on your previous experience, skills, competency, and overall performance.
