Interventional Radiology Fellowship

Hands-on training in image-guided vascular and non-vascular interventions.

Interventional Radiology training

Training mode

You join the interventional radiology department as a fellow under an assigned senior consultant, one-to-one, for the full placement.

  • In the angio suite: you scrub in from the start. Your role grows from vascular access and catheter handling to embolisation and stenting steps, as your consultant judges you ready.
  • Image-guided procedures: you take part in ultrasound- and CT-guided biopsies and drainages.
  • Clinic & ward: you assess patients before procedures and follow them afterwards.
  • Academic: you take part in imaging reviews and multidisciplinary meetings.

Your actual level of involvement (observing, assisting, or performing steps under supervision) is decided by your supervising consultant, based on your previous experience, skills, competency, and overall performance.
